Play with the settings, I’ve found that with the wrong combination it can sound pretty bad, but if you get it dialed in with the rest of hube gear, it can be a nice subtle OD.
I actually sold my Fulldrive because of this pedal. I’d go so far as to say one of the best out there.

With a quality amp, that pedal really screams and gets you heard in the mix very well. Will ChenJan 27, The DL was just smoother at real low gain settings. There are a number of good sounding pedals in that price range, but only the DL and the Cool Cat offer true bypass. In rehearsal or gigs when stage volume has to be very low, I play right on the floor, touching slot machines at this casino, so we’ve gotta play very very very low and right when it starts to feel good and quiet, turn it down about half again, the delta labs is perfect in this situation.

Also take a look at the Boss OD For example, through my blues junior I’ll set volume and master at 6 12 o’clock so that I get a good mild overdrive when I dig in, then roll back the guitar’s volume control to clean it up. May 21, 7. If you’re looking for a tube-like overdrive have a deptalab at the Boss SD-1; it’s one of the best overdrives I’ve tried.
I ran the gain too high for a little while on it, but have begun using it as mentioned above as more of a low gain effect just to add a little dirt to the sound. To get real dirty I then add a tubescreamer or big muff in line before the lpb Tybe SD-1 and Bad Monkey sound a bit better, but both have buffered bypass.
In rehearsal though, we like to keep rehearsing volume very low and I use this pedal a lot. Rather than tube-like overdrive, I use actual tube overdrive with a booster like the ehx lpb1 and an attenuator if I need to keep the level down. May 21, 5. Agreed, the SD-1 is great. Beach HoundSep 9, That’s a pretty hyped pedal.
Obviously this is all my opinion, etc. May 21, 9.

I have a Marshall Guv’nor and it’s not cutting it for me If it’s an original you’ll likely dwltalab able to get much more that you paid for it. I played around with one when they first came out. Plus, some SD-1’s have a bleed-through problem, that lets some of the overdriven signal pass even when the pedal is off.
